Letter to Sponsors, Volunteers and Donors

April 3, 2018

To all of our Friends and Supporters,

Susan G. Komen is working together to reduce breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50% by 2026. To meet this bold goal, we must strengthen the entire Komen organization and evolve our grassroots presence in a way that best positions us to make a long-term measurable impact in our communities.

In some instances, Komen is transitioning its support in an area from a local Affiliate to its national mission and fundraising programs, including access to our national patient and treatment support programs. As Susan G. Komen Southwest Florida no longer meets the requirements set forth in the Komen Affiliate Agreement, we will be discontinuing our local operations as of May 25, 2018, and will be transitioning support for the area to the national mission and fundraising programs.

The Staff and the Board of Directors would like to thank our great sponsors, volunteers and all of those donors who worked so hard at the Race for the Cure, Rally for the Cure or donating in your own way to help so many people in Southwest Florida and add to the research funds for meeting our bold goal.  We hope you continue to stay engaged with Komen and its important work as it supports our area in a new way.

Even though we are closing our Affiliate, we are so happy to announce that thanks to the funds you helped raise in 2017/2018, we will be able to fulfill most of the requests for funding we received from our local clinics and hospitals this year.

Thank you again

Board of Directors of Southwest Florida
