KOMEN FOR THE CURE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA was established in
November of 2002 as a 501(c)(3) corporation. The
Affiliate is charged with the purpose of furthering the
Komen promise to save lives and end breast cancer
forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for
all and energizing science to find the cures. 75 percent of the net proceeds raised
by the Affiliate will remain at the local level to fund
a variety of community-based breast health education and
breast cancer screening and treatment projects for the
medically underserved. A minimum of 25 percent of net
proceeds will support the Komen Award and
Research Grant Program.
Since our inception we have raised over 3.4
million dollars in the fight against breast
cancer, awarded grants over 1.5 million in community
outreach programs, contributed over $750,000 to National
for ground-breaking research and provided over $260,000
in educational materials to the community.
