Komen Advocates in Science

Komen Advocates in Science involves advocates in a variety of scientific activities to ensure that their perspectives are integrated into the dialogue and decisions that affect our progress toward ending breast cancer.

Breast cancer survivors and others affected by breast cancer provide unique and valuable perspectives about the cancer experience, issues that will most influence the lives of those affected by breast cancer, and the urgency of finding cures and ending breast cancer forever.

Grant Application and RFP

The Southwest Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® offers grants for innovative projects in the areas of breast health and breast cancer education, navigation, support, screening and diagnostic services. Projects should target services, not otherwise available, to the medically underserved populations of Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and/or Lee Counties. Community Grants are available for one year.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2009 - 2010 Community Grant Program. Please complete and submit the Request for Proposal by January 16, 2009.

All grant applications are subjected to rigorous review by an independent panel of medical professionals, breast cancer survivors, public health professionals, and community leaders. Funding announcements will be made by April 2009.

All applicants are encouraged to attend the Grant Writing Workshop on December 9, 2008.

Please contact Sharon Morgan, Grant Administrator, via email at sharon@komenswfl.org or 239-498-0016 to register for the workshop.
