About
Komen
Nancy
G. Brinker promised her dying sister,
Susan G. Komen, that she would do
everything in her power to end breast
cancer forever.
In 1982, that promise became Susan G.
Komen for the Cure and launched the
global breast cancer movement. Today,
Komen for the Cure is the world's
largest grassroots network of breast
cancer survivors and activists fighting
to save lives, empower people, ensure
quality care for all and energize
science to find the cures. Thanks to
events like the Komen Race for the Cure,
we have invested nearly $1 billion to
fulfill our promise, becoming the
largest source of nonprofit funds
dedicated to the fight against breast
cancer in the world.
New name. New logo. Same vision. A world
without breast cancer.
You may notice that we've changed our
name - to Susan G. Komen for the Cure -
and created a brand new logo to match.
We hope you like the new look. Even more
importantly, we want you to understand
the motivation for this significant
change. |

Circle of Promise
Current
reports show that African American women are dying from
breast cancer at a rate 18 percent higher than white
women, giving African American women the highest death
rate and shortest survival rate of any other racial or
ethnic group for most cancers. Susan G. Komen for the
Cure has pledged to do our part to ensure that African
American women are empowered with the information and
tools they need to take charge of their own health and
serve as ambassadors in their local community. Susan G.
Komen for the Cure’s Circle of Promise campaign is
designed to engage African American women to help end
breast cancer forever by fostering increased awareness,
support, empowerment, and action. This website launches
September 10th. Click the link for more information:
